Yee Hlai

A handcrafted 100% silk fabric, created by master weavers in Myanmar. This design honours heritage motifs from the Burmese Acheik textile tradition, with pattern motifs dating back a thousand years. The fabric is meticulously woven on a village frame loom in Sagaing State. The weaving process uses 100 shuttles in an incredibly skillful process, with few artisans left able to create such intricate work. Turquoise Mountain is working to preserve and protect this artisan weaving skill, and celebrate the beautiful Acheik visual heritage.

We are working with women weavers across Myanmar’s ethnic groups, celebrating their sense of community and identity as well as the exceptional craftmanship embedded in their textiles. Our charitable mission supports the weavers to earn sustainable income and helps preserve Myanmar’s diverse textile traditions.
